Hands up if you're sick and tired of Winter...I know I am,having to get up half an hour earlier to make sure your car is defrosted ready for the gruelling slog to work, getting up and its dark, coming home and its dark, freezing your tits off everywhere you go,I literally feel like I'm walking round half asleep all the time,I could quite happily hibernate for the next few months.
Wake me up when its Spring!

Moaning aside,if there is one thing that I do enjoy(apart from moaning) about Winter, it is layering.Theres nothing like wrapping up in everything you own and stepping out into the fresh air.I recently got my hands on this lovely sheepskin denim jacket,I've been eyeing some up recently and conjuring up outfits in my head so I bit the bullet and got one,I bloody love it!!

What are your go to layering pieces?

TIPS || DEALING WITH HOMESICKNESS

P1080632
Last year my parents bought an old cottage to renovate,I dwelled there for a good few months and then much to my surprise, out of the blue,Paul and I moved in together,a good hour away from home,to a place that I love but I miss my family every second of the day, maybe I'm just a big fanny or maybe lots of other people feel the same way when they move out,who knows? but if you do get that sicky feeling then I've got a few tips for dealing with it.

1.CONTACT IS KEY
I phone home almost every other day,I probably annoy the hell out my parents but I feel that communication is key.I'm sure i'm not missing out on anything but I like to be kept in the loop about how they are, what they have been doing, how Bella is(The Family Dog). It's the small things in life that matter and speaking to your family,in my eyes,is the best thing ever.If I feel alone they are just a phone call away and it helps a lot.

2.VISIT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
I'm not sure if this makes the "homesickness" worse,I never want to leave when i'm there,I often question should I even be living away from home if I feel like this? But then I remember i'm a 25 year old woman,i've got my own life now and I need to grow some serious bollocks and man the fuck up.I do find visiting as much as possible helps,I love spending time with them and chilling in the lovely, quiet countryside.

3.REMEMBER WHY YOU MOVED OUT
The thought of my own space and independence was why I moved out in the first place...(and obviously to start a life with Paul)I adore being independent, since moving out I started a new job, managed to buy my own car and have achieved many things which I couldn't do living at home,i'm constantly reminding myself of these things and it helps so much in those hours of "arghhh I want to go home, curl up in a ball and spend hours in my old bed".

4.EXPLORE YOUR NEW AREA
Moving to a new area is great if you like exploring, even if its little things like checking out the nearby shops or new walks,i'm a very outdoorsy person and love finding new places to walk the dogs or parks to exercise in.Doing small things like this will take your mind off being back home and will make you appreciate your new surroundings.

5.GET SOME 'ME TIME"
Even the simplest of things like having a bath and a pamper session can massively change your mind set.If i'm having a shit day I always head for the bath, light some candles, exfoliate, whack on some fake tan,do my nails etc, doing things like this will instantly lift your mood and the thought of going home won't even cross your mind.

6.COOK ONE OF YOUR FAVOURITE MEALS FROM HOME
I love to eat,as i'm sure everyone does and one of my favourite things about living with my parents was my mums cooking, every night we would have something delicious, made from scratch and super homely.I miss eating at home big time and i've found a way of dealing with this is making some of the meals that mum used to make; e.g. Shepards Pie,Macaroni Cheese,Sausage and Mash etc.
I owe my cooking skills to my mother, she has taught me from day one and i'm so glad I can cook a meal from scratch and its all because of her :)

7.MAKE NEW FRIENDS
I have been super lucky in the friend zone. When I started my new job the girls I worked with were so lovely,it can always be a bit scary as an outsider moving into a town where everyone has always lived but they made me feel so welcome and they have become some of my closest friends.I have also gained some of Pauls friends and I love them to bits. It's very important to have people around that you can have a laugh with and call on if you need a chat,i'm extremely grateful for the new people in my life.

8.GET OUT
Leave the bloody house, its no good moping around waiting for something to happen or waiting for a phone call from home.Isolating yourself will only make things worse so get off your arse and do something productive.Join a club,go shopping,go for a run, anything, you will feel tonnes better for it.Thank me later.

I hope some of these tips helped someone out there,it's a horrible feeling but I find sticking to these few pointers really helps. If you have any another tips or tricks please leave them below for us all to read.

DSC02201DSC02178DSC02182DSC02189DSC02202DSC02203DSC02199
Okay so I know people are hitting the gym and starting their "New year,New me" vows, but me being me...I'm still thinking of food and have no intention of dieting. In December I teamed up with Tesco and cooked a 3 course meal using their Organic range and this is what I came up with.
To start - Asparagus wrapped in Parma Ham with a baked Camembert.
Main - Sirloin Steak with a Watercress Puree,Potato Ring,Onion Rings and Burnt Onion Powder.
Desert - Banoffee Pie

It was my first time online shopping and my experience with Tesco was brilliant, super easy to do,low costs and even the delivery man was lovely.I placed another order with them last night and will continue to do so,it definitely takes the hassle out of going to the supermarket and doing it,thats for sure.Big thumbs up from me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

NEW IN || AUTUMN CANDLES

tilly parker,tilly parker candle review,my jolie candle,my jolie candle review,christmas candles,autumnal candles,home, interiors,
Everybody and their mothers are candle obsessed these days,I know I am.I've been on the hunt for some festive scents recently and have stumbled upon two candles that are just divine.I like nothing more on a cold Autumn evening than to don my Pj's,sit down with a hot chocolate and to watch my candles flickering, letting off the most wonderful aromas.

First up is this Tilly Parker candle which I came across in Homesense (if you're a candle lover you need to check out Homesense's selection, one word...EPIC)It actually retails for £30 which I would never in a million years pay for a candle but I managed to snap it up for a mere £7.99.It burns amazingly too,I've used half and it has burnt evenly taking all the wax with it.It has notes of Magnolia,Jasmine and Opulent Woods,if you like masculine scents you will love this, and also the packaging is just drool worthy.

Next up is a new concept,it's a 'My Jolie Candle' basically you get a gorgeous smelling candle with a surprise piece of jewellery inside,I have only just started burning this Cinnamon beauty so i'm yet to reveal my jewels but I can tell you now that it smells awesome! if you're after a christmas candle then this is the one! They would also make a pretty cool stocking filler,a candle and some jewellery all in one.You can get your mitts on one HERE

Reading isn't for everyone,I will admit,I open a novel,my eyes get heavy and i'm immediately bored however when it comes to cookbooks my eyes light up and I instantly become inspired. The one chef who always inspires me and keeps me in the kitchen is Nigel Slater, his food is homely, comforting and bloody scrumptious.

I have just finished reading "The Kitchen Diaries 2" in preparation for hopefully receiving his new cookbook for Christmas(A Year Of Good Eating: The Kitchen Diaries 3).I love the way this book is laid out,he goes through every month of the year using food which is in season for that time and comes up with the most delicious dishes along with a story or explanation as to why he is cooking it,and why he's loves that particular dish.I love Nigel as a writer in general and his TV programmes always have me hooked as does his quirky personality.

I have tried numerous recipes out of this book, all of which are stunning and so tasty,if you are a lover of good food and simple cooking I can't recommend this book enough, lets hope the new one is just as good,i'm holding high hopes for it.

Have you read and good cookbooks lately? I'd love to hear your recommendations.

Much Love
