TWO PIECE: LUXEMME || WATCH: CASIO @ HOUSE OF WATCHES || SUNGLASSES: MISSONI || SANDALS: RIVER ISLAND

Yep...I did it,the blonde has gone, well sort of,I couldn't fully commit to dark hair all over so I opted for the "bronde"/Ombre trend, okay I admit I'm extremely late to jump on that bandwagon but I was too busy enjoying my white(most of the time yellow) locks to even consider going darker but it got to a point where my hair was falling out so I talked myself into trying to get my hair healthy again and i'm starting here.

That aside how beautiful is this two piece? we haven't exactly had the weather for shorts but I couldn't keep it stored in my wardrobe any longer. The fabric is so silky, soft and comfortable,i'm also a huge fan of navy blue so it ticks all of the boxes for me.

Also Burt wanted to say hello,he's growing so fast and turning into a right little terror!!

I hope you are all well, what have you been unto recently?

Much Love

SWEET & SOUR PORK WITH STIR FRY COURGETTES AND WILD RICE

sweet and sour pork with stir fried courgette katelouiseblog
: YOU WILL NEED :
(FOR THE MEAT)
.1 KG Spare Ribs
.2 Eggs
.2 TBSP Cornflour
.Groundnut oil & Sunflower Oil
.3 TBSP Ketchup
.3 TBSP White Sugar
.4 Pineapple Rings
.Flaked Sea Salt
.Wild Rice

(FOR THE STIR FRY)
.2 Large Courgettes
.1 TBSP Flaked Sea Salt
.1 TBSP Veg Oil
.2 Garlic Cloves
.4 Spring Onions
.1 Red Thai Chilli
.1 TSP Sesame Seeds

: HOW TO :

1.Cut ribs to desired length,I went for around 5cm,wash them and pat dry with kitchen roll, place in a large bowl and sprinkle with sea salt, mix well and leave to sit for 15mins.

2. Meanwhile, whisk the Eggs with the Cornflour, add small amounts of water until you reach the consistency of double cream.

3. Heat Groundnut and Sunflower oil in a wok or high sided pan(I did half and half with the oils) this needs to be deep enough that it comes half way up the ribs, alternatively they can be put in a deep fat fryer.DONT BURN THE OIL!!!

4. Coat your ribs individually in the Egg batter and submerge into the oil, they should bubble as soon as they touch the oil,if not then your oil needs to be hotter.Cook until golden each side and cooked through.

5. Remove ribs and leave about 1Tbsp oil in the pan, place ribs on to kitchen roll and allow to drain.

6. Place the ribs back into heated oil,add the ketchup, sugar and pineapple pieces, add some of the tinned pineapple water for extra juice.Leave on a low heat while you do the stir fry.

7. Using a mandolin, peeler or a sharp knife cut the Courgette lengthways to make long thin ribbons set aside on kitchen roll and sprinkle with sea salt(this will drain the moisture out),Slice the Garlic into thin slithers, the same with the Chilli and Spring Onions.Heat oil in a pan and add the garlic to flavour it.

8. When all the moisture has been drawn out of the Courgette turn the heat up until piping hot and add it to the pan along with the Spring onions,Chilli and Sesame seeds. This will take seconds to cook, you want the veg to be al dente.

9. When the rice is cooked its time to plate up.

A/W WISHLIST

JUMPER:TOPSHOP || HAT: HATSHOP || SCARF: MODCLOTH || JEANS: TOPSHOP || BOOTS:JONES BOOTMAKER

I know,I know, we haven't even finished summer yet but I can't help look at all the new season trends and drool over the colour palettes, working in retail doesn't help,we started getting all the A/W stock in about a month ago,i'm hooked on creating wish lists of things i'm lusting after(but can't afford)does anyone else do that?

I've been looking for a pair of Desert boots for ages and stumbled upon these beauties, the suede might not be practical for the rain but I need some in my life nonetheless.
On the subject of shoes i'm also toying with the idea of knee high boots I adore how they look on other people, wether or not I can pull them off is a different matter.

What are you planning on wearing this A/W?

On Tuesday, Paul and I hopped on the train and headed to the big smoke to visit my brother and his girlfriend, the weather was stunning, the food was delicious and we had a wonderful few days just chilling and mooching about.
More often than not, when I go to London I end up in Oxford Circus and to be quite honest it gets boring so it was nice to visit some of the outskirts of London and peruse around shops, bars and restaurants that we hadn't been to before.
We visited the Cutty Sark, bummed around Greenwich, trekked up to the observatory(the view is stunning if you haven't done this you need to) boarded the boat to Embankment, walked around Hackney,Brick Lane,Soho and had a snoop around spitalfields market (an absolute must for antique lovers).
It was a much needed/deserved break, although the tube strike was a bit of a nightmare and came at the shittest time possible,we still had a laugh.
I love little getaways they break up the mundane everyday routine and are perfect for a change of scenery.

Have you been anywhere worth visiting recently?

I'm not gonna lie...I feel like an old school gypsy woman in these culottes, however they are god damn comfy so I don't care one bit.
I've been a bit MIA recently,it was my birthday yesterday and spent the week leading up to it planning for a house party and had lots of things to prepare so please excuse my absence (i'm sure no one noticed I was gone haha).I have also been recovering from a fucking awful Gin hangover,no ones fault but my own but if you can't have a drink on your Birthday, when can you?

Enough of my crying and awful excuses, how ace is this headscarf? I'm obsessed with hair accessories at the mo,especially head bands/headscarves/tikkas (not the curry, although i'm obsessed with curries too),I'm in the throws of growing out my fringe, these babies have saved my bacon and refrained me from looking like a complete tosser when in the wind.

I hope you are all having a great week, what are you getting up to?

MY FAVOURITE RECIPE BOOKS

the best recipe books katelouiseblog favourites
If you are anything like me, you struggle on the daily to come up with something quick, simple, healthy and at the same time absolutely delicious for tea.
I find a great way of keeping things fresh and not getting tied down with the same boring meal each night is to look at recipe books.
I am constantly flicking through mine for ideas and inspiration, they are my holy grail in the kitchen.
I have dug out my favourite three books which tick all of the above boxes.

LORRAINE PASCALE - HOW TO BE A BETTER COOK
DSC01506
If you are after quick meals but still want to experiment then this is the book for you.
Lorraine covers all bases from Pasta,Canap├ęs,Asian, pizza, salads and puddings its all in there.
I've been a fan of hers since watching her Tv program,I find all of her recipes extremely easy to follow,I've cooked a few things out of this book and everything has been heavenly.
One of my favourite recipes is her Sesame Beef and Broccoli stir fry,its a must for anyone that is head over heels in love with asian food.(and beef)!!

HARRY EASTWOOD - A SALAD FOR ALL SEASONS
harry eastwood a salad for all seasons katelouiseblog
Next up is one for you salad admirers, now I know not everyone wants a salad for tea but trust me,these are so filling and yummy,if you are after something light then you need this book in your life however if you are after something with a bit more bulk for a meal then I suggest pairing one of these salads with a meal as a side/accompaniment.
This book covers (like it says) salads all through the year using whatever fruit and veg is in season, its a beautiful read and has stunning imagery.
I'm currently waiting for my mum's beetroot to grow so I can try this;

MY RECIPE BOOK
handmade recipe book cookbook katelouiseblog
Lastly is my recipe book,no I haven't got one of those annoying blogger/youtuber book deals this is just a scrap book of recipes I've come across and stuck in, or things i've written down, everything I need is in here from curry pastes to lavish 3 course meals,I adore my recipe right down to the handmade cover (which might I add took me all bloody night to stitch many moons ago).
This is a great idea if you are into cooking, you can make it as unique as you like and can alter it to your taste. It is in no particular order but I quite like the unorganised personal touch.
I will admit i'm a huge fan of a sausage traybake so I stuck it in just incase I forget how to make it (this will never be the case because we have it at least once a week).YUM!!
