I'm not gonna lie...I feel like an old school gypsy woman in these culottes, however they are god damn comfy so I don't care one bit.
I've been a bit MIA recently,it was my birthday yesterday and spent the week leading up to it planning for a house party and had lots of things to prepare so please excuse my absence (i'm sure no one noticed I was gone haha).I have also been recovering from a fucking awful Gin hangover,no ones fault but my own but if you can't have a drink on your Birthday, when can you?

Enough of my crying and awful excuses, how ace is this headscarf? I'm obsessed with hair accessories at the mo,especially head bands/headscarves/tikkas (not the curry, although i'm obsessed with curries too),I'm in the throws of growing out my fringe, these babies have saved my bacon and refrained me from looking like a complete tosser when in the wind.

I hope you are all having a great week, what are you getting up to?

MY FAVOURITE RECIPE BOOKS

the best recipe books katelouiseblog favourites
If you are anything like me, you struggle on the daily to come up with something quick, simple, healthy and at the same time absolutely delicious for tea.
I find a great way of keeping things fresh and not getting tied down with the same boring meal each night is to look at recipe books.
I am constantly flicking through mine for ideas and inspiration, they are my holy grail in the kitchen.
I have dug out my favourite three books which tick all of the above boxes.

LORRAINE PASCALE - HOW TO BE A BETTER COOK
DSC01506
If you are after quick meals but still want to experiment then this is the book for you.
Lorraine covers all bases from Pasta,Canap├ęs,Asian, pizza, salads and puddings its all in there.
I've been a fan of hers since watching her Tv program,I find all of her recipes extremely easy to follow,I've cooked a few things out of this book and everything has been heavenly.
One of my favourite recipes is her Sesame Beef and Broccoli stir fry,its a must for anyone that is head over heels in love with asian food.(and beef)!!

HARRY EASTWOOD - A SALAD FOR ALL SEASONS

Next up is one for you salad admirers, now I know not everyone wants a salad for tea but trust me,these are so filling and yummy,if you are after something light then you need this book in your life however if you are after something with a bit more bulk for a meal then I suggest pairing one of these salads with a meal as a side/accompaniment.
This book covers (like it says) salads all through the year using whatever fruit and veg is in season, its a beautiful read and has stunning imagery.
I'm currently waiting for my mum's beetroot to grow so I can try this;

MY RECIPE BOOK
handmade recipe book cookbook katelouiseblog
Lastly is my recipe book,no I haven't got one of those annoying blogger/youtuber book deals this is just a scrap book of recipes I've come across and stuck in, or things i've written down, everything I need is in here from curry pastes to lavish 3 course meals,I adore my recipe right down to the handmade cover (which might I add took me all bloody night to stitch many moons ago).
This is a great idea if you are into cooking, you can make it as unique as you like and can alter it to your taste. It is in no particular order but I quite like the unorganised personal touch.
I will admit i'm a huge fan of a sausage traybake so I stuck it in just incase I forget how to make it (this will never be the case because we have it at least once a week).YUM!!

On Sunday we bounced into the car and set off to Gloucester, some friends of ours were attending the food festival so we decided to tag along.
Food festivals have become one of my favourite ways to spend a weekend (as you have probably guessed from previous posts) I love delving in to an array of different samples and trying new things,we left with a hefty piece of blue cheese, some beers and numerous  tasty delights.
It was my first time visiting Gloucester,It's beautiful, full of lovely shops, great places to eat and a graceful view of the Quays,an extremely pretty place to laze in the sun.We have decided to go back next week and explore further.

Feeling inspired,we decided to rustle up some tea, Pollack with Chorizo,Butterbeans,Spinach and Goats cheese)then ended up guzzling a bottle of wine followed by falling asleep on the sofa.
A perfect way to spend a weekend!

What did you get up to at the weekend? Also if anyone has any recommendations of what to do in Gloucester please let me know

It was so bloody windy today hence the sheer state of my hair however,I decided to pull on my favourite dress and added some glitz in attempt to brighten up a miserable "summers" day.
I have a mild....well... massive obsession with anything stripy,if I see stripes in a shop I'm instantly drawn to them and have acquired quite the collection,is that bad? how many varieties of stripes are there? will my infatuation stop anytime soon? how many times can I say stripes in one paragraph!!!
I paired the dress with this awesome detachable collar,it takes the outfit from casual to smart in seconds, as does the clutch and the snazzy headband,I will be wearing this ensemble all weekend (fingers crossed for some nicer weather
(GOD DAMN THE UK AND IT'S AWFUL WEATHER,I NEED SOME SUN ON MY LEGS!!!)

NAKD BARS || NATURAL BALANCE FOODS

If you have been a reader of my blog for some time you will know by now that I adore food,I will eat pretty much anything and I'm willing to try anything that is thrown my way, with that being said I have been trying out a selection of Nakd bars recently and wanted to share my thoughts on the tasty little buggers.

I've always been a tad dubious of "healthy" snack bars, one reason being, most of them aren't healthy at all and secondly i'd much rather have a chocolate bar but since trying these I am converted.
They are made with fruits and nuts and are wheat and diary free,I love that you can't taste a tonne of sugar whilst eating them either, they make great energy foods and are perfect for on the go snacks.
They come in so many flavours to suit your tastebuds,I am currently chowing down on a cocoa orange whilst writing this post and it is divine (move over Terry's chocolate orange).

Another of my favourites is the Berry delight which is made up of Dates,Cashews,Raisins and Raspberries, whats not to love?

If you haven't tried one of these nourishing and delicious bars yet you need to!

Whats your favourite healthy snack?
