WHERE?
Cookmate Cookery School in Worcester, UK has officially launched. The school is set above the well established Cookmate shop in Broad Street, the owners Caroline and Andrew Gregory have recently converted what was once an upstairs storage space into a beautiful school for budding food enthusiasts to learn new recipes, knife skills, and generally, to have fun with cooking.

HOW DOES IT LOOK?
I have to say they have nailed the interior, it's right up my street, it boasts clean lines, wood, marble and muted grey colours throughout. Everything looks so fresh and there is tonnes of space for groups or parties to come and enjoy the lessons. It is separated into two rooms, both fully equipped with everything you need. If you have any celebrations coming up like milestone birthdays, hen/stag dos, or just want a fun/different night out with your mates then this would be perfect.

THE CHEFS AND CLASSES?
So there are a few different chefs that teach these classes, we had the lovely Paul Bough who made the lesson super fun and very laid back, he taught us how to make focaccia ,which was so quick and simple, I've made it in the past but none of which turned out as good as the one I made with Paul, it was delicious! There are a few options you can choose from for your lessons, like what sort of class you want, you can learn how to cook Asian, Indian, Italian, learn knife skills you name it there is something for everyone, perfect for beginners right up to the very knowledgeable chef, there is always room to learn more.

FINALLY, WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT?
I've probably already covered the top points of why you should look in to Cookmate Cookery School, but if you are still unsure then I have few more points to make to hopefully sway your decision.

1. IT'S A DIFFERENT DAY/NIGHT OUT - Bored of just hitting the pub with your friends or spending every last penny in the shops? Trying something different and learning a new skill is much more rewarding than spending a whole months wages on a night out, trust me!!

2. TO SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES - This is something I'm really passionate about, with more and more shops going into administration and people turning to internet shopping we need to shop local and keep our favourite shops in business!

3. TO MAKE FRIENDS - Not going in a big group but want to go on your own? Don't worry, there will be more people on your course, a perfect way to make new friends or to just socialise.

4. IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS - If you would like to be more confident in the kitchen then a cooking school is a great place to start, who knows you might even be the next Masterchef!!

5. IT'S SO MUCH FUN - Well if this isn't the best reason to go then I don't know what is, I'm not going to lie, I was quite nervous going in, it's the second time I've attended a cookery class and each time I've been a bit scared but I've always left feeling super confident and always had the best time, there's no pressure to make amazing meals just to have fun and put all the skills you've learnt into practice.

Let's start by saying I'm a huge accessory lover, I love everything from bags to jewellery to shoes and hair accessories, a bit of a magpie you might say? So when Majique contacted me and asked if I wanted to pick a few pieces from their website I got straight on the case.

A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Majique is an online jewellery retailer, selling high quality, innovate pieces at super affordable prices. They offer a diverse collection ranging from timeless classics to statement styles, you will have a field day rummaging through necklaces, rings, bracelets, brooches, you name it, they stock it! Everything they sell is completely hypoallergenic, nickel and lead free and beautifully designed.

MY CHOICES
I went onto the website with a completely open mind, I will fore warn you that there is A LOT to choose from so grab a cuppa and take your time. I trawled through quite a bit to find what I wanted but seriously there is something on there for everyone and everything is so affordable! Bonus right? The pieces I chose reflect my style to a T, I'm one of those people that has a different style each day, some days I want to be casual, some days a bit girly, some days smart and some days a bit quirky and I think the items I chose reflect this perfectly. I also had these pieces in mind for my upcoming holiday to Ibiza, I went last year with no jewellery at all( I still question why to this day) and felt super under dressed so this year I will be taking all of these pieces and chopping and changing them up as I go, they are all pieces I can take from day to night which is super handy when on holiday.

A bit like JT but far from sexy! If you have followed me from day dot and you're an OG reader you will know that my blog started as purely a personal style blog. It began as a place I would share all my new in pieces, my outfits, my shopping sprees etc and you know what? I kinda miss the old days. I tend to focus more on lifestyle and food as of late which don't get me wrong, I LOVE and will still be featuring! but I feel fashion has taken a backseat so here's to bringing it back. If you have read this post you will know I'm not about sticking to a niche, I just want to write about what interests me and hopefully someone out there will enjoy it and if not, I have a diary of my life to look back on when I'm old, grey and fucked! Yaaay

I'm not going to lie, I've been stuck in a massive rut with my outfits over the past year or so (hence not taking photos as they are SO boring) I spend most my days merchandising so I literally just go to work in jeans and a t-shirt for pure comfort (and anti sweat purposes, the worst part of the job!). So I'm just going to keep it real, I love my massive collection of boring clothes and the best bit is that they all go together, I don't have to think about what I'm wearing each morning and I'm always extremely comfortable.
That aside I'm currently obsessed with this aviator jacket from New Look, it's a gorgeous dark olive green, and my god is it warm, you don't even need a jumper underneath this bad boy although I do love wearing it over a logo hoody for added "coolness", if you can call it that?

So there you have it, fashion content is officially back on the blog, I hope you enjoy what's to come over the next few months and here's to having another excuse to go shopping.

I'm by no means a fitness freak, kinda wish I was but serious lack of motivation has always worked against me and the argument by brains sends to my legs that sounds something like this... "why the fuck would you want to go out in the rain when you can curl up on the sofa and have another cup of tea and a few more biscuits?" with that being said, this year I decided that I really needed to do something regarding my fitness so at the start of January I took it upon myself to start running, it's something that I have dabbled in on and off in the past and something that I can never seem to get better at but enjoy nonetheless, so here I am 3 months on and loving every second of it.

My goal isn't all about losing weight, if I do then of course that's an added bonus but what I really wanted to focus on was getting stronger and just generally being outside more, some people will choose to stick to a treadmill and that's perfectly fine but I love getting outside and taking in the scenery (plus who even spends their money on treadmills when the pavements and fields are free of charge? pffft no ta!). Another massive part of running was for my mind, it's not all about personal bests or speed but just getting out there and doing it is a massive sense of achievement for me and the post run high is one of the best feelings ever! My mind can get pretty stagnant doing the same thing day in day out and I easily become agitated so running has really helped me with this, the moment I start feeling angry, upset or just massively procrastinating I get my kit on and get out the house.
I for one can vouch for how hard it is, even the getting up and just doing it (which I actually find the hardest part btw) so here are my top 5 things to get you motivated, get your ass outta the house and get your body moving.

1.IT CLEARS THE MIND
Like I said, I use running as a type of therapy I guess... no internet, no phone, no one else, just me, my body and the great outdoors. Once I get into the flow I could go for ages, without getting all deep it seriously aids my mental health and helps me switch off from anything I have on my mind, if you suffer from anxiety or stress I highly recommend giving running a spin.

2.THE MUSIC
This is one of my favourite parts of going for a run. I get to whack my headphones on, turn them up as loud as they will go and just boss it! I absolutely love trance music along with house and dance, I've got quite the epic workout playlist over on Spotify (Username: slimbabe45....don't laugh!) if you need some workout inspo.

3.GET NEW KIT
I always find when I'm in a slump and falling out of love with exercise that wearing something new instantly makes me want to get back on it. You don't have to spend the earth on a brand new Nike tracksuit or Sweaty Betty leggings (although both are on my Wishlist) just some cool socks, some sweatbands or a new top will do the job just fine. It's quite materialistic but I find I workout my best when wearing new kit and feel super confident in it.

4.RUN BECAUSE YOU CAN!
Without sounding morbid...one day you will no longer be able to run.....okay so there's a select few oldies that are still killin' the marathons but not everyone is capable when they reach a certain age and unfortunately some people haven't even got the luxury of being able to run so don't take the ability for granted, use your body to its full extent.

5.GET HEALTHY
It goes without saying that there are huge health benefits to running or any form of exercise for that matter. This is something that has been on my mind as of late, I'm not getting any younger and I don't want to be a couch potato by the time I'm 40 so this has given me a massive kick up the bum to get active, you don't need to go mad every day and burn thousands of calories, just do something to get the heart rate up, take hiking for instance, a slow steady pace but enough incline to get that chest burning, this is something I want to do more of this summer.

So I hope this has inspired some of you to get up and get started, there's no right or wrong way to exercise and these are just a few of my tips to keep me motivated, I'd love to hear your tips and tricks that work for you too!

Much Love, K x

Right in the heart of Edgbaston and a stones throw from central Birmingham lies the highly acclaimed Simpsons. Led by chef director Luke Tipping Simpsons has earned the reputation for offering one of the best dining experiences in Birmingham and also holding a Michelin star. We headed over for what was our second time in this beautiful restaurant, to try the new season menu (and drink copious amounts of wine obviously)
THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant itself is made up of clean lines, touches of lime green and a tree slap bang in the middle, cool huh? Along with carefully selected art on the walls and a nod to modern design throughout. A somewhat warm and homely vibe was given as soon as we entered the building.

THE FOOD
Okay so onto the most important part....the food! If you have followed me for a while you know i'm a HUGE food lover, and Simpsons comes high on the list of my favourite restaurants we've visited, this time round was no different, the food was incredible and each dish was made up of the most amazing flavours. We opted for the taster menu as it's such a great way of trying all the various dishes they offer and if you're not a fussy eater then it's perfect (I will literally eat anything...within reason) however they do offer a set a-la-carte menu if you don't want to go all out and just want a 3 course meal.

Each dish came perfectly presented and packed full of flavour, the definite favourites were the Salmon with Oyster Emulsion and the Beef Cheek & Bavette, both of which melted in the mouth and left us wanting more. Every plate of food was delightful and nothing could be faulted.
We also had the wine flight to accompany the taster menu, the selected wines were nice enough but most of which were old world wines and we much prefer new world so in hindsight if we return we would probably just order a couple of bottles we like, rather than opt for a different wine with each course.

If you are in the Birmingham area and have never been to Simpsons I certainly recommend going, a slightly pricier night out but 100% worth it and would also make a great special occasion meal if you have something to celebrate.

Have you visited Simpsons before? What did you think?

I'm sat in my pj's about to write how transitional pieces can bring you from winter into spring....and my mind just suddenly shifted and I wanted to write this instead because it's been bugging me for ages and let's face it.....you can hop over to anyone's blog and read about transitional outfits over there but here, today, we are having a serious(ish) chat.
It has sprung to my attention over that last few months that a lot of people are banging on about what your blog must consist of to be successful, "how brands will only contact you if you have a clear focus on one subject", "how your blog will never take off without a niche", blah blah blah, and seriously if I read another "How to be a successful blogger and earn money" post, I think I might scream!
What happened to 2012? when blogging was so natural, it was a hobby, it was something you just did when you got home from college in shit lighting on a shit camera just so you could share your outfit post, food photo or bad makeup with your little group of followers? None of which I remember being forced or paid just a little hobby. I get that times have changed and the blogging/youtube/instagram community has blown up and people make a very nice living out of it but I truly believe you don't have to force content, do paid collaborations about teeth whitening or blog about just one subject to be successful, surely we ourselves are our niche and we shouldn't confine our blogs to one subject, isn't that a bit boring?

Take this for example....I have never, since a very young age known what I've wanted to do with my life, some people have it all mapped out but me.....far from it! I struggle on a daily basis with my career path, goals and the most fucking annoying of them all (where I see myself in 10 years time) in answer to that question....probably doing the exact same thing i'm doing now but with more wrinkles.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy with my life and all the opportunities i'm getting but every day I change my mind about what I want to be when I grow up and this certainly reflects in my blog content. Some day's I want to be a chef so I compile tonnes of recipes and take photos of them,....which is another hobby... maybe I should be a photographer? Then another day I want to be like all the cool kids on Pinterest and wear the whackiest of outfits and take photos, so again I will pop them on the blog, other days, a glam beauty blogger maybe and other days I want to sit on the sofa doing jack shit and not bothering with my blog at all because I can't deal with the stress of a full time job and a blog side hustle, I'm sure you get the gist by now of my scatty brain and indecisiveness which is why I don't have a niche and i'm doing quite alright without one, I use my blog as a diary of all the things that interest me and i'm not about to give it all up and refine my platforms just so certain brands will approve of, or hire me. I am my niche and if you are starting out in the blogosphere or have hit a brick wall with your blog and feeling uninspired then you shouldn't worry about this or believe everything you read about how to be the "perfect blogger" because believe me, it doesn't  exist!
Be yourself, write about what you love, your passions and what interests you and you will do just fine. By no means do I want this to be a negative post, I just wanted to say my bit and make it okay that you don't need to follow the crowd!

Oh and on a side note, how BEAUT is this dress, you all know wearing a dress scares the life out of me but as always, paired down with a slouchy jumper and a pair of trainers brings it back to a tomboy feel and I can't wait to get some wear out of it this Spring, Boohoo have some gorgeous dresses in atm so head on over and treat yourself.

It's no secret that we are all after amazing skin, and this post, by no means, means I don't suffer with the occasional breakout or shit skin day (especially when hungover or it's that time of the month!) because I do, but with that being said I believe that these products have saved my skin over the past year from being dull, dry and lifeless and converting it to bouncy, supple and dare I say it, youthful looking skin, i'm only 27 but hey we're not getting any younger are we (!) so let me introduce you to my holy grail products...

UTAN & TONE - Coconut Tanning Water
Now let me tell you, this little beauty is life saver, especially if your skin feels pale and dull and hasn't seen sun since like 1992 (or at least that's what it feels like at the mo!) UTAN & Tone is a facial spray which acts as a toner and has added tanning particles, sounds like a gimmick right? nope! This stuff really works, I use it morning and night after cleansing to close my pores and add a much needed glow to my face, I will re-purchase this until the day I die. (Bit morbid soz)

NEALS YARD - Bee Lovely All Over Balm
Dry skin girls, hands up who gets dry eyebrows? Sounds weird but it happens and this product has worked some kinda magic on mine, I apply it around my brows before I go to sleep and wake up to zero dry patches. It's such a universal product, you can literally put it anywhere (within reason) lips, skin, cuticles, feet, you name it, as the name would suggest, it's certainly an all over balm.

This is my holy grail night time moisturiser, it does everything it says on the bottle, quench's my skins thirst and makes my skin feel like it's had one big ass drink. I slather this cream on before bed and wake up to beautiful bouncy, supple skin. If you, like myself suffer from dry skin or even dry patches then you need to try this product it has fast become one of my faves in my skincare routine.

Okay before you jump to conclusions... I DON'T use this on my nips! (although you could if needs be) It is in fact Dr.Lipp's original recipe for nipple balm but made into a lip balm, and trust me, i've tried a lot of lip balms in my time, you could call me the lip balm queen as I have tonnes but this is the only one that has really stood out to me, I don't necessarily suffer from dry lips but i've got into the habit of just applying it throughout the day and love how it feels. This stuff also acts as a gloss and isn't sticky in the slightest, you can use it for a glossy eyelid, natural highlight, on your cuticles, again a pretty diverse product and needs to be in every girls make up bag.

THE ORGANIC PHARMACY - Lip & Eye Cream
So i'm pretty new to eye creams, i've dabbled in a few over the past couple of years and as i'm not getting any younger I thought now is the time to start taking them seriously, I received this little beauty in an advent calendar over Christmas and have been using it morning and night since. I've noticed a visible difference in puffiness and fine lines, it really hydrates around the eye and i'm loving it, big thumbs up for this product.

LA ROCHE POSAY - Effaclar Do +
This product has been circulating the blogosphere for a year and a day and it's no shock that everyone and their mother uses it, i've been using this product for years and still to this day I love it as much as day one. This stuff is awesome if you suffer from blocked pores or tiny bumps under the skin, I get these all along my jawline and they just aren't squeezers so this reduces them dramatically and stops my grubby mits from trying to pop them (TMI?) It also acts as a great all over serum and base for moisturiser.

THE BODY SHOP - Oils of Life
Okay...... this has been the biggest game changer in my skincare routine, it's not often I rave about something so much but this product has blown my mind! If you follow me on youtube you will know that for a few years i've suffered from a broken capillary slap bang in the middle of my nose (it was pretty unsightly) nothing seemed to get rid of it, make up wasn't covering it, no amount of concealer was hiding it and as shallow and stupid as it sounds I was really thinking about getting laser surgery on it and that's coming from someone who really isn't into cosmetic surgery (i'm sure I will be when I look like a ball bag one day) but for now surgery wasn't the road I wanted to go down. That aside Paul bought me this little beauty for Christmas and from using it as a night time oil, it has reduced the visibility of the capillary by 90%, seriously a few more months of using this and I think it will have totally disappeared. If you suffer from any scarring, redness, tightness or broken capillaries then you HAVE to try this oil.

And finally...Everyone has heard of this so it's no surprise that it's made the cut. I use daily reviving concentrate as my daily facial oil, it sits great under make up, I use about 5 drops as a little goes a very long way and it keeps my face super hydrated throughout the day. It's at the higher end of the budget but totally worth it if you are after supple and hydrated skin, it's the bomb!

I hope this has helped any of you looking for healthy looking, clear skin or if you just want to switch up your skin routine.
Please let me know your holy grail products.

Much Love

Much Love

Hands up who loves Pancake day? If you didn't raise your hand, WHY!! I personally look forward to pancake day more than I do Valentines day, but hey if you love and celebrate both, then there's nothing stopping you making these for both occasions, (just don't forget to add a rose and a cringe card to the plate for V.day).

 HOW TO
1. In a mixer, add flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Whisk together. Add in egg, buttermilk and butter. Whisk a few times until batter comes together, but a few lumps still remain. Gently stir in crushed Oreos. Let batter sit a few minutes to thicken.

2. Grease your pan and bring to medium heat. Measure out 1/4 cup of batter. Pour batter into middle of pan. Cook pancake until bubbles begin to break the surface, then flip to other side and cook  until pancake is done. Repeat with remaining batter. You should have enough batter for about 8 pancakes.
 3. To make cream, pour heavy cream and sugar into a mixer. Mix on high speed with a wire whisk until cream becomes stiff peaks. Spoon cream out onto the pancake layers. Sprinkle some crushed Oreos over cream (you can also mix the Oreos into your cream but I want to keep the cream white to look more like Oreo cookies). Gently place a pancake on top. Repeat with cream, crushed Oreos and pancakes. Serve immediately with chocolate syrup if desired.

beachy hair, beauty, curly hair, hair, how to achieve beachy waves, how to curl your hair, how to get beach waves, katelouiseblog, max pro, max pro hair tools, wavy hair, fashion, ombre hair,
I'm sat writing this post with a completely different hair cut to this, the day after I took these photos I chopped all my hair off, no fault of the product i'm about to mention but merely my erratic impulse decision to go for a dark brown, dead straight, bob which yes, I can tell you after living under a comfort blanket of thick ombre hair was very scary, I came out of the hairdressers thinking "What the Fuck have I just done" but hey....new year, new hair and all that.

So rewind a day before to my lovely balayage mane, god I loved this hair.... throughout the stages of growing it I had always been on the search for the perfect hair tool, texturising spray, wax, hairspray you name it, something that would give me that effortless beachy wave look and I could never find it, well that's until this little bad boy landed on my doorstep, the MAX PRO Twist 32mm. now I'm not going lie to you, for moment I thought, ah yeah this will be the same as every other curler i've tried in my 27 years of life, low and behold I was wrong (something I don't like to admit most of the time).

Something i'd never tried before was a thick barrel and I think this was where i've been going wrong for so long, i'm not a hair pro so i'm not up on these things and probably having done my research I could of found this out but being the lazy shit that I am, it didn't even occur to me it just bloody google it! Anyway if you are struggling to get effortless waves then the thicker barrel is the way forward, I went for the 32mm which I think is the thickest they do, they also stock loads of other widths, styles and straighteners if this one isn't for you.

To achieve this look is super simple, just section off your hair (I tend to do mine into four layers and then divide the layer into four sections and curl that way but whatever suits) I curl away from the face and keep the temperature at around 180-200 degrees, quite hot I know but it holds the curl for hours, once all the layers have been curled I go through with my fingers and separate them so they don't look too uniform, a quick spritz of hairspray and you're done

If you are on the market for some new curlers head over to Max pro and check out their products, i'm super happy with mine and haven't put them down since receiving it.

Much Love

C'mon admit it, you feel like a massive slug that has had all the hydration sucked out of it and you can't bring yourself to look at another mince pie let alone those tubs of cheese snacks you still have lying about the place, am I right? Well if you are anything like me, you, yet again over indulged throughout Christmas and feel the need to get a bit of goodness back in your body (i'm still warming to the idea of exercise so salads will do for now) I've come up with 3 super healthy salads which aren't bland at all, if you want to get back on track or just need a bit of a pick me up then look no further...and what's even easier? you just chuck it all in a bowl, perfect for packed lunches, to enjoy on the go or to chow down on at home(!)

SWEET POTATO & SPINACH
I'll admit it, it's taken me a while to come to terms with Sweet Potato, not sure why, it's just not that buttery spud filled with cheese and beans is it? but hey it's beautiful in it's own right....
Handful of spinach
25g Cooked Red Rice
5-6 Sprigs of Tenderstem Broccoli
1 Sweet Potato
A Few Slices of Red Cabbage
Drizzle of Olive Oil
Juice of 1/2 a Lime

SALMON & AVOCADO
Probably one of the best combinations of all time don't you think? I try and get a few avocado's in my meals each week and i'll be honest, i'd have one with every meal if I could...
1 Fillet of Salmon (Grilled)
Handful of Rocket Leaves
1 Avocado (Sliced)
1 Spring Onion (Thinly Sliced)
Handful of Pine Nuts
Drizzle of Balsamic Glaze
Drizzle of Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper to taste

CHICKPEA & MOZZARELLA
A strange combo, but super satisfying, a salad that is hearty, full of goodness and you still get to eat cheese, it's all about moderation, what's not to love?....
Handful of Spinach
1 Carrot (Peeled)
1/2 Tin of Chickpeas
3 Radish (Sliced)
1/2 Ball of Buffalo Mozzarella
Drizzle of Balsamic glaze
Drizzle of Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper to taste

As always my recipes can be adjusted to suit your dietary requirements, Vegan? take away the cheese and add Tofu or vegan eggs... Vegetarian? Take away the fish and add more veggies or pulses and if you're a meat eater add some chicken or beef, the possibilities are endless!

If you try any of my recipes i'd love to hear your thoughts, here's to a happy & healthy 2018
