TRAVEL: VISITING ILFRACOMBE

I don't recall visiting Ilframcombe as a child, it is one of the top UK holiday resorts for families but we always spent time in places like Borth and Anglesey (not complaining as they were the best holidays EVER!) but I've wracked my brains and just don't ever remember going. A couple of weekends back I got the chance to visit and thought why the hell not.
When arriving we stumbled upon this quaint marmalade shop ' The Proper Marmalade Shop ' which was decorated adorably, the most photogenic shop I had been in, in a very long time, it was like being in marmalade heaven!

We tried numerous different flavours from Blood Orange to Orange and Cranberry but ended up leaving with a Whiskey flavoured one and a Lemon and Ginger, both I can report back are DELICIOUS!! They also did tubs of ice cream which I wanted to go back and try but unfortunately ran out of time, so if you're ever in there, try it out and let me know what i'm missing!

After moseying around town for a couple of hours and scoffing our faces full of Fish & Chips, Tea and coffee was in order, 'Love From Marjorie' stood out to me like sore thumb, their simple, monochromatic exterior drew me in like the insufferable, cliche Instagram user that I am, I had to check it out. I kind of wish I hadn't filled up on Fish & Chips beforehand because their food looked incredible not to mention the juices. The first thing i'll be doing if I visit Ilfracombe again is heading straight for breakfast at Love From Marjorie...(and then maybe Fish & Chips for lunch) ;)

Well,to be fair it was more like chinese torture walking on this rocky beach but nonetheless it was lovely getting the sea air and giving the dogs a run, I didn't manage to get a photo of Burt because he decided he would rather stalk seagulls and swim in the sea (trying to keep him still is a nightmare when it comes to photos) but Betty & Charlie(Paul's Parents' dog) were more than happy to be snapped, bloody posers! Oh and this was followed by a cheeky slice of cake and yet another hot drink, it's tiring work this travelling lark!

Another focal point of Ilframcombe is the Landmark Theatre, it was built to replace the Pavilion theatre which was damaged by a fire in the 1980's, some don't like these power station looking lumps of concrete but to me, there is something quite pleasing to the eye, especially with the surrounding greenery and bandstand, I think it's quite a nice spin on the old seaside town but hey, you can't please everyone.

Our last stop was WINE!! Wine plays a very important part in our weekends back home so to see a place dedicated to wine and food excited us very much, however, I think we went too early in the day as ' The Antidote Wine Room ' wasn't actually open which was a great shame, but nevertheless we gorped through the windows and appreciated the decor, we will most certainly be calling in next time for Tapas and a few beverages, they also do accommodation so if you want to get pissed and head straight to bed (hell yes) then this is the place for you!

STAYCATION: ROCK, CORNWALL

rock, cornwall, rock cornwall, what to do in cornwall, cornwall travel guide, uk travel guide, top things to do in cornwall, latitude50, latitude 50 review, meadowside review, katelouiseblog, cornwall, places to visit in the UK,
A couple of weeks ago, Paul and I packed our bags and headed off to Rock in Cornwall, we have spent many a holiday in the gorgeous town of Rock and stayed in the most beautiful properties from Latitude 50, including Mullets and Fairfax, we like to try out a different property each time we stay and this time it was Meadowside
We went with a couple of our friends and their dogs so Betty & Burt had some friends to play with while they were there. We find Cornwall extremely welcoming towards dogs, they are welcome in most cottages, pubs, bars and shops, people seem to be very open to the idea of dogs being a member of the family and this is very important to us.

THE PROPERTY

Meadowside sits in a peaceful location up a little lane boasting the most beautiful houses and countryside. The property is warm and welcoming and acts as the perfect home away from home. The rooms are huge and the layout is perfect for lounging around to entertaining and cooking (and getting slightly tipsy). The dogs adored playing in the garden and with the beautiful weather we had, the balcony terrace was a dream to sit on and soak up the rays.

TO DO
Rock is the tiniest of towns but has everything you need from Butchers, Deli’s, Restaurants, Fishmongers and gift shops but most importantly, the fabulous beach. We have visited plenty of beaches in our time but Rock beach is breathtaking and only a 10-minute walk from Meadowside. The dogs ran for hours in and out of the sea chasing balls and sticks and we walked for miles. Want to explore further? You can get the sea taxi straight over to Padstow which takes all of 5minutes and is a must do if you are staying in either towns.

TO EAT
Rock has a few hidden gems when it comes to food; St Enodoc Hotel is our favorite for a slap up meal. We first discovered it when Nathan Outlaw had his restaurant there (which was bloody amazing and the food was divine) but now has been handed over to Michelin starred chef James Nathan, we have eaten there numerous times now and it has never failed. If you want to buy food and take it home for a feast then Lewis’ the Delicatessen is the place to go and has everything you need for those Spring BBQ’s.

You know what? I'm sick to death of wearing black, white and grey, I'm just going to throw it out there! don't get me wrong, the majority of my wardrobe is based on the neutral colour palette and I do love how everything goes together and looks incredibly photogenic however I just needed some goddamn colour in my life and this yellow t-shirt from mango ticks all the boxes, from the in your face YELLOW to the comfortable, soft fit and lets be honest it can still be classed as a basic and goes with all of my boring clothes (and even my dog) Woohoo!! I encourage you all to add some colour into your wardrobes this summer and break that typical, clean Instagram feed up a bit, you know you want to.

I hope you are all enjoying the sun and have an awesome Bank Holiday weekend

SUNDAY MUSINGS

sunday musings,katelouiseblog,records,vinyl,vinyl collection, music,blog changes,blog update, style, fashion,flatlay,
I'm going to be honest with you guys, I'm not entirely sure what this post is going to be about, I raided my Vinyl collection this morning in just of finding something relaxing to listen to and thought they, along with my breakfast looked pretty laid out on the ever so blogger grey and pink bedsheets.
I've been going through a major blogging funk recently and just haven't known what to write about, i'm lacking inspiration massively and it's doing my head in. With that being said if you are a reader of mine you will have noticed i've been a bit MIA recently and that is why. I don't want to bore you guys with forced posts or something that everyone else is producing, I started my blog in hope of bringing something new to the table and I feel like i've slid into a slippery slope of doing what every other fucker is doing and I never wanted it to be like that, it's nice getting paid for stuff or getting sent free things but my god it's boring to see every Tom, Dick and Harry doing the same shit don't you think?

I want a clean slate and I want to strip my blog back to basics, I want to produce something interesting and something that you guys are excited to look at and read, yes I will still be doing outfit posts etc because who doesn't love a good snoop at what someone has been wearing? but the forced content about my favourite beauty products (because lets be real who actually gives a shit?) or wanky clickbait titles are coming to an end, personally I'm sick of seeing it and it no longer interests me.
I'm 27 this year and I want my blog to grow older with me and get better with age which is why i'm changing things up, I hope you don't mind and I hope you look forward to the things to come.

Cross your fingers for me that I get my mojo back asap!

Love you all and thanks for sticking with me

BLANKET || GOLD PINEAPPLE || WOODEN BOARD || TSHIRT
We all have those days where we don't want to get up and those days for me are Sundays.
A Sunday has always been my favourite day (other than when I worked in retail, more about that HERE!!) Today I decided to do my emails from bed, watch youtube videos from bed, and yep, eat my breakfast in bed, ultimate filth I know, but you know what, fuck it!! I decided to make my trusty banana Pancakes and with Pancake day right around the corner, what better time to share this gluten free, low calorie recipe.

: YOU WILL NEED :
. 1 Ripe Banana
. 2 Eggs
. 1/8 TSP Baking Powder

:HOW TO:
1. Crack eggs into a bowl, add the baking powder and whisk together making sure all the baking powder has dissolved.

2. In a separate bowl mash the Banana, leave slightly lumpy so some texture remains in the pancakes, add egg mixture to Banana and combine.

3. Melt a small amount of butter in a frying pan and start adding your mixture, cook until baking powder has activated and the one side is brown then flip and cook on the other side, (I usually get about 4-5 Pancakes out of this mix) top with maple syrup and your choice of fruit.

VALENTINE'S

the body shop, the body shop matte liquid lipstick review, valentines day, things to do on valentines day, katelouiseblog, tattoos, girls with tattoos, inked girls, lingerie for valentines day,
That dreaded time of the year is fast approaching, for some of us it's all lovey dovey and for others it's a night at home in our pj's with a pizza, crying into a sodden tissue, okay a bit dramatic but this was actually my life before I got into my long term relationship of three years (can you actually believe anyone has put up with me for this long?) Valentine's day certainly has it's mixed opinions, "oh it's all to make money" , "why can't you show someone you love them everyday?" both valid points but i'm afraid to tell you moaners that it is what it is and you will never put a stop to it!

These feelings aside, my inner soppiness actually doesn't mind Valentine's day, okay it can get a bit stale if you been together ages but that doesn't mean you cant make the effort right? This year I will be dolling myself up and heading out for a meal at Simpsons with Paul and a couple of friends (no we aren't swingers, and yes it will be just the two of us on the actual day) I will be donning my best outfit and a few of my favourite makeup items from The Body Shop.

THE ONLY TRAINERS YOUR WILL EVER NEED

the 6 trainers you need in your life, comfiest trainers, the comfiest trainers, the only trainers you will ever need, nike trainers, vans, vans trainers, katelouiseblog, adidas trainers, stella mccartney,
1,2,3,4,5,6

I think you all know by now that I am indeed a massive trainer whore, a day doesn't go by where I haven't got a pair stuck to my feet and nine times out of ten I wear them into the ground, with that being said my current pairs are all battered and thread bare and quite honestly, as comfy as they are I think I need to treat myself to a couple of (maybe all of these) new pairs, these are a few styles i've been eyeing up recently and am dying to get my hands/feet on/in.
I am also in love with the selection of trainers Ralph Lauren has to offer at the moment, perfect for spring and they would be a dream to style, better get saving my pennies!!

Which ones would you choose? Have you got any of these and the most important question, are they comfy?

BEDSIDE BEAUTY

the body shop, the body shop review, the body shop almond milk and honey, the body shop among milk and honey review, the best body creams for winter, body creams for acne, body scrubs to combat pimples, bedside beauty, combat ageing skin
I have always been a massive fan of moisturising, it keeps my skin looking young, fresh and supple, infact I couldn't stand the thought of not being moisturised, if I was stuck on a desert island with no creams I would go insane!! I have recently been trying out The Body Shop's new Almond Milk & Honey range and I can safely say I am IN LOVE with every single product.
the body shop, the body shop review, the body shop almond milk and honey, the body shop among milk and honey review, the best body creams for winter, body creams for acne, body scrubs to combat pimples, bedside beauty, combat ageing skin
I will start by saying that when it comes to moisturisers I am extremely fussy, if it lingers on my skin, smells horrible, is too thick etc etc it's a huge turn off and it goes straight in the bin. This range from The Body Shop is everything I love in a skincare product and they have been sitting proudly in my shower and on my bedside for a solid couple of weeks. (also can we just note how bloody photogenic they are!!!)
the body shop, the body shop review, the body shop almond milk and honey, the body shop among milk and honey review, the best body creams for winter, body creams for acne, body scrubs to combat pimples, bedside beauty, combat ageing skin
the body shop, the body shop review, the body shop almond milk and honey, the body shop among milk and honey review, the best body creams for winter, body creams for acne, body scrubs to combat pimples, bedside beauty, combat ageing skin
So let's talk shower products....
The shower cream is a beautiful, rich yet milky consistency and lathers up brilliantly, (there's nothing worse than a shower cream that doesn't foam in my opinion) it works great alongside the exfoliating scrub which I use all over my body with exfoliating gloves, it gets ride of dry skin and has been working wonders on raised pimples on the backs of my legs, these two products have made my showers less of a chore and more of a treat. The smell of the whole range is incredible (like everything from The Body Shop) it's sweet and yummy but without being sickly, let's just say it fills the bathroom with the best scent ever!!

Onto moisturisers....
These are my favourite things in the range, I was so excited to try them and I haven't been disappointed. I use the body lotion daily after showering and then use the 48hour intense moisturiser a couple of times a week. The Body lotion is everything I look for in a body lotion, it glides on so smoothly, it drys in an instant, it doesn't feel tacky and best of all, it smells delicious. The intense moisturiser is much thicker but a good thick, it makes your skin feel a million dollars, it takes a little longer to dry on the skin but I don't mind waiting as it keeps your limbs feeling supple for days, a definite hero product.

This range will be available to buy from The Body Shop in February, not long to wait eeeek, I would start queuing now if I were you, I can see this range flying off the shelves, I will most certainly be stocking up.
