A week or so ago the super friendly bunch at Wayland's Yard in Worcester invited me over to have a mooch around their Christmas market and enjoy some of their grub, obviously I couldn't turn this down, I walk past on a weekly basis and always admire the awesome decor, people sat in the window working on their laptops and eating the best looking food, so I grabbed mum (for a girly day) hopped in the car and headed over. Oh they also have a shop dog called Kobe which made me want to visit a thousand times more.....(mad dog lady over here).waylands yard, waylands yard menu, waylands yard worcester, places to eat in worcester, dining, things to do in worcester, worcester uk, lifestyle, dining in worcester uk, katelouiseblog, foodie, waylands yard, waylands yard menu, waylands yard worcester, places to eat in worcester, dining, things to do in worcester, worcester uk, lifestyle, dining in worcester uk, katelouiseblog, foodie, waylands yard, waylands yard menu, waylands yard worcester, places to eat in worcester, dining, things to do in worcester, worcester uk, lifestyle, dining in worcester uk, katelouiseblog, foodie, waylands yard, waylands yard menu, waylands yard worcester, places to eat in worcester, dining, things to do in worcester, worcester uk, lifestyle, dining in worcester uk, katelouiseblog, foodie,
We headed straight out to the yard to nosey around all the Christmas stalls, there were some beautiful items for sale, I instantly fell in love with the jewellery and pottery, I love anything that has been handcrafted and there were over 40 crafters & business people selling their wares so naturally I was in my element. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming, we got to find out a bit about the stallholders too and their process for coming up with ideas, how things are made etc so an educational afternoon too. Time passed by super quick and without realising we were starving so headed back inside for a bit of food (my favourite part).

I've always heard great things about Waylands Yard's food, from friends and family to work colleagues, no one has ever had a bad word to say about it and it was certainly overdue for me to try it out. They cater for all diets which is such a winner, with everyone having different dietary requirements these days it's essential to cater for everyone. I'm pretty easy to cater for because i'm a pig and will eat anything that's put in front of me but I have a few friends that are vegan and vegetarian and they LOVE it here!
Anyway onto the food, (which is all locally sourced may I add) it was around midday so obviously I went for Avo Smash, one of my favourite things to eat is Avocado, I used to despise it but in my old age have fallen in love with the stuff and just want it on every meal, especially with poached eggs so already this was my dream dish for lunch. It arrived on sourdough toast (another favourite of mine), covered in mashed avocado, watercress and two beautifully golden poached eggs, they can certainly get the eggs right that's for sure! Every mouthful was delicious. Mum had Eggs Royale which I had to sneak a bit of and it was equally tasty, so a massive thumbs up for your food guys, can't wait to pop back in and order more.

Overall we had a lovely day, a HUGE thank you to Poppy and Sam and the lovely team at Waylands Yard, you were all super welcoming and lovely, I hope you have the most successful 2018 and be sure to see me back ordering the whole menu in the new year(!)

I'm going to be honest with you all, i've never felt 100% comfortable in a dress, my day to day outfits revolve around jeans, a t-shirt and some beaten up trainers, however, there's something about getting glammed up that i've always enjoyed even when it pushes me out of my comfort zone of looking like a boy(!) So when Debenhams invited me along to the Jingle Bell Ball this year (which was incredible might I add) I couldn't refuse a bit of pampering, preening and a night filled with music.

Obviously I wanted to sport something from Debenhams so I opted for this classic, chic black midi number. I absolutely loved it as soon as I tried it on, it clings to every curve and the knot front detail and ruched bum makes it super flattering (I don't have much of a derriere so this is a huge bonus). Okay so I couldn't refuse a bit of sparkle, gold and red were my accent colours and how beautiful are these earrings? Never thought i'd be a Pat Butcher earring wearer but hey, i'm embracing it and what's Christmas without a bit of red?

As for the concert itself? It was awesome, with Sam Smith being a firm favourite (isn't he always?) All of the acts were so good live, including Rita Ora, Craig David, Anne Marie, Jax Jones,Jonas Blue, and more, if you've never been before I would certainly recommend getting yourself a ticket next year, so many good acts under one roof and the perfect festive atmosphere.

Have you got a Christmas party this weekend? Or looking for something special to wear New Years Eve? Head over to Debenhams and get glammed up #youshall

It's no secret that gingerbread is one of the greatest scents of Christmas, the rich, heady smell that fills the room as soon as it starts baking is just divine and one of my all time favourite, festive smells and tastes. It's become a tradition in our house to have gingerbread (in any form) along side a cup of tea or hot chocolate so I thought what better way to switch up from the bog standard gingerbread man to mini gingerbread houses....why the hell not! Here's how.

:YOU WILL NEED:
500g Plain Flour
200g Honey
120g Caster Sugar
120g Unsalted Butter
1 Egg
1 Tsp Bicarb of Soda
25g Gingerbread Spice Mix
Coloured Icing Pens

:HOW TO:
1. Preheat oven to 180 C. Put flour and bicarb of soda into a mixer and set aside. In a pan heat honey, sugar and gingerbread spice until a dark runny liquid forms, set aside until it cools slightly. Pour this mixture into the flour along with the diced butter and egg and mix until a stiff dough forms. Remove from mixer and knead for a further 5 minutes. Shape into a ball, cover with cling film and chill for 20 minutes.

2. Remove dough from fridge, sprinkle the worktop with some flour and roll out dough to 2-3mm thick. Using a template cut around the house shapes and set them aside on a lined baking tray ready for the oven. Bake for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown in colour.

3. Once the shapes have cooled it's time to decorate! I used icing pens to do this but if you want to get really technical you can use sugar work or royal icing to stick the edges together. It's pretty self explanatory, just find the right shapes and get sticking together. Once set you can then decorate them as you please, it can get a bit messy so make sure you're patient and let bits fully dry.

december goals, christmas, christmas candles, christmas inspiration, christmas pyjamas, katelouiseblog, lifestyle, the white company, how to relax over christmas,
I know, it's already the 7th December and I should of probably started my goals at the end of last month but hey, it's not Christmas unless you're totally unorganised and if you're anything like me you still haven't started shopping, yet alone planning food etc. I thought if I popped on the blog and wrote down everything I needed to achieve this month (rather than on a piece of scrap paper which would probably get binned in a mid month rage) then I would be more inclined to stick to what needs to be done(!) Whatcha think? Let's have a go....

1. Get Christmas content out on the blog! Every year I look back at my blog over the festive period and I literally have nothing to show, i'm not sure wether it's because I work full time and have no time to shoot or it's because every other blogger is churning it out and it can get a bit much? Who knows, however i'm going to stop looking at what everyone else is doing and bring you lots of food, lifestyle and festivities.....but mainly food, that sound okay? Let me know if you want to see anything in particular.

2. Spruce the home up! By this I mean make it look as Christmassy as possible, this could be our last Christmas in this house so I want to make it look as pretty as possible, i've been sorting through the cupboards that never get touched, throwing out rubbish, donating to charity and just generally having a massive clear out, in an attempt to make room for everything festive. Oooo and i'm addicted to cleaning videos, call me sad or old but i'm bloody hooked and my cleaning love is at an all time high, my goal is to keep on top of this throughout December.

3. Exercise more.... probably not going to happen over Christmas lets be honest, however....I have massively fallen off the fitness and healthy eating wagon since the weather has got colder, there's just something about winter that makes me want to eat everything, bar salad! why is this? I aim to walk for an hour each day (having dogs should make this easy) and getting back into my fitness videos, I CAN do it!

4. Get back into Youtube, again this is something i've totally fallen off the wagon with, I always feel guilty for not uploading to my channel as much as I used to but working flat out makes this super hard(!) I'm not going to let it ruin what I love doing though so stay tuned to my channel to see some new content coming your way in the next few months, if you're not already subscribed then please head over and click that button to stay updated.

5. Host a Christmas movie night. I've always wanted to create an at home cinema experience over Christmas by making the lounge all cosy with throws, candles, all the party food, fairy lights...you get the gist, along with all my favourite Christmas films, I still haven't managed to sit down and watch one yet so this weekend we will be having a movie marathon starting with The Grinch! What's your favourite festive film?

What are your goals for December?

It's no secret that Christmas is upon us and I for one am extremely excited to start getting festive. Christmas has always been one of my favourite times of the year, not just the day but more so the lead up, the preparation, the cooking and the entertaining.
Nothing quite beats the smell of the kitchen in November and December, pastries, puddings, stews and canapés come in their hundreds as friends and family gather to share all the goodness that is, Christmas food.
I've put together the simplest, quickest of canapé recipe that will keep your guests coming back for more.

:YOU WILL NEED:
400g Ready Rolled Puff Pastry
1 Egg (Whisked)
150g French Brie
6 TBSP Cranberry Sauce
Fresh Thyme Leaves

:HOW TO:
1.Unroll the pastry sheet and give it a light egg wash all over. Cut into small squares, once the squares have been cut double them and lie on top of one another.

Halloween is right around the corner and if you're anything like me you aren't organised at all? I'm not a huge fan of going all out for Halloween because Christmas is more my jam but I do like experimenting with food and throwing a scary film night with allllll the sweets and treats, these No-bake Pumpkin Truffle Mummies are easy peasy to make and hardly take anytime at all (other than the chilling) but hey, they are worth the wait, if you have a sweet tooth you will ~love~ these.

: YOU WILL NEED :
. 1 1/2 Cups of Ginger Nut Biscuit Crumbs
. 1/4 Cup Tinned Pumpkin Puree
. 1/3 Cup Basic Cracker Crumbs
. 3 TBSP Icing Sugar
. 1/4 TSP Ground Cinnamon
. 1/8 TSP Salt
. 3 OZ Cream Cheese
. 1/2 Cup White Choc Chips
. 1 Bar White Cooking Chocolate
. Red Food Colouring

: HOW TO :
1. In a large bowl, add all of the dry ingredients along with the cream cheese and mix together, (you will need to use a blender to make the biscuit and cracker crumbs first) Mix until it forms a smooth paste.

2. Melt 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips and add to the mixture.

3. Cover with cling film and pop in the freezer for an hour or so until the mixture is set and you can roll into bite-sized balls.

4. Split mixture and start rolling into small balls and then poke cocktail sticks in.
Melt the white cooking chocolate and start dipping in your truffle balls until fully covered, I also used some of the chocolate on a whisk and trickled it over the mummies to create a textured finish.
Using a cocktail stick and red food colouring, create the mummies eyes.
Chill in fridge until chocolate has hardened.

It's that easy, and if you are feeling extra generous you can hand them out to trick or treaters.....however, I demolished these the day I made them.... whoops!!

It seems so long since I last posted an outfit wearing more than 1 layer, not that i'm complaining because I am most definitely a summer baby, however i'm not going to lie, I've been enjoying wrapping up and heading out into the fresh (but still warm-ish) air. It doesn't quite seem cold enough to whack out the coat yet so i've been reaching for my trusty denim jacket paired with my ~fave~ Animal hoodie to get me through until winter. I've been absolutely loving Animal's A/W range and have acquired a few pieces which i'll be sharing with you over the coming weeks but for now, these are my new loves(!!!) The hoodie and backpack haven't left my shoulders(!)

I recently wore this outfit for a day in Belfast, it was such a gorgeous day, the sun was blaring but still had that cool breeze in the air which made this outfit the perfect ensemble. Belfast is such a beautiful city, quite small but lots going on, with great places to eat and some incredible architecture, a very underrated city I feel and I can't wait to head back very soon.

What's your ~go-to~ Autumnal outfit? Have you visited Belfast before? I'd love some recommendations for my next visit.

We've been in our house just over 3 years now and things are starting to take shape, I recently shared with you our Bedroom which is still a work in progress (so is every room to be fair, is anything ever really finished?) so I thought i'd carry on the series and show you the kitchen, ah my beloved kitchen. I feel so bloody lucky to have this beautiful place to cook in, it's definitely my most favourite part of the house and where I spend 99% of my time(!)

If you have followed me for a while you will be aware that I absolutely ~love~ to cook (so does Paul) so obviously the kitchen had to be the best room in the house, we decided to keep the walls fresh with white paint and mix the woods up with off white marble worktops and industrial furnishings which carry on through the whole house. We have recently had a new Stoves cooker in a gloss black finish which adds a pop of "modern" and it's also a bloody awesome bit of kit, cannot WAIT to do some autumnal baking in this bad boy.
