Ever suffer with that post workout slump? Need to get some protein in but hate tasteless shakes and haven’t got time to make a slap up dinner full of the good stuff? Then look no further, this smoothie is packed full of goodness with everything you need to fuel you back up after a mornings exercise.
Now I will start my saying I’m not an expert nor by any means a nutritionist this is merely what works for me and is absolutely delicious! Since January this year I have taken my fitness regime to a whole new level, if you have read this post you will know I’m spending as much time as I can running, not just for weight loss (although that bit is a nice bonus) but more for fitness, strength, peace of mind and acheivement. I won’t lie, it’s bloody hard work but I enjoy it so much and the post run high is the best feeling in the world… that is until my afternoon slump when I’m starving hungry, have to be at work in an hours time and realise I haven’t actually eaten very much…. this is where the smoothie comes in.
I know a lot of people can’t stand protein shakes and yes I have tried a fair few over the past few months and some of them are literally rank, however I was recently sent over the Some Body banana range and I’m not going to beat around the bush but my mind was blown, it just tastes like you’re eating a banana (no false chemical tastes hoorah!) and for me this is great because bananas are by far one of my favourite fruits, packed full of carbs and potassium they are certainly a fitness lovers dream! So with that being said onto the recipe…..
:YOU WILL NEED:
2 Scoops Some Body Banana Protein Powder
350ml Almond Milk
Handful of Frozen Berries
3 TSP Chia Seeds
2 TBSP Porridge Oats
Now this is massively straight forward, whack it all in a blender or Nutri-bullet and blitz until smooth, top with some of your favourite berries and enjoy. (Best served cold)
So obviously you can just make a shake with the Some Body protein and it’s still a very pleasurable drink however, I’ve gone the full hog and bulked it up so not only does it add back in that protein to aid recovery but fills you up for a good couple of hours, the protein comes in loads of flavours too which I’m yet to try but I’ve got my eyes on the strawberry one next so watch this space. Oh and the whole Some Body Protein range including snacks and soft drinks are on offer over at Superdrug so quick, snap it up before it’s all gone!
Let me know how you use your protein powder? Do you make protein pancakes? Smoothies or just drink it as it is? I’d love to know any recipes you have.
